Focus
The
Clara & Spencer Werner Foundation by its charter is limited
to Lutheran charities. Therefore, grants are allowable only to Lutheran
churches, institutions, ministries, agencies or special projects.
Grants
to individuals are not permitted.
Geographical
Scope
The
Clara & Spencer Werner Foundation is not limited by geography.
However, its mission extends outward from its center. The Foundation's
first area of focus is Lutheranism in Illinois, then outward to
Lutheran churches, institutions, ministries, and agencies in Missouri,
Wisconsin, Michigan, and Indiana, then the United States, and to
the world.
Grants
If
you feel your institution qualifies under the focus of the Clara
& Spencer Werner Foundation you are welcome to submit a grant
proposal.
The
Foundation provides seed money, capital support, endowment funds,
matching grants, general operations and special project grants.
Determination
is based on the needs and capabilities of the applicant and how
closely the applicant's programs advance general Lutheran causes.
The
Foundation receives requests far in excess of its annual budget.
We must often decline support to worthwhile organizations and programs.
Such a response does not reflect on the value of the agency involved
or on its services, but rather the limited resources of the Foundation.
